Process

“In the long run [you] only hit what [you] aim at.”

-Henry David Thoreau

Our team’s many years of combined experience has taught us that any client’s very first meeting should focus on three key areas. We have built our ongoing process for clients around these three topics.

Educate

To formulate an effective financial plan, we need to learn everything we can about you, your goals, and even your dreams. Together we’ll explore what is most important to you and your family – now and in the future. We’ll ask questions like: “What did money mean to you growing up?” and, of couples, “What differences are there in your attitude about money?” Our team will want to know about income, expenses, cash flow, and debt before we even talk about investment accounts.

Once we go through your goals and “base facts,” our job is to educate you on potential strategies for reaching your long-term goals. We also clearly lay out our firm’s fees; you should know what you are paying and be confident that you are getting the value from our team you deserve.

Plan

Your definition of wealth is unique to you. Our team wants you to understand how your money is being put to work toward reaching your life goals – such as retirement, a second home, a family legacy, or charitable bequest. We use plain language to build your plan. The planning process will include an analysis of your income and expenses as well as your assets and liabilities.

With the “base facts” in place and your goals determined, our team will demonstrate how your financial decisions today impact your future wealth.

 Act

By educating and advising you about strategies to reach your long-term goals in language you can understand, we will work with you to take action. Given the impact these financial decisions will have on your life, you will understand why our investment management process and scheduled annual reviews are so crucial to our process. Additionally, our team will provide transparent ongoing communication to help you stay on track.

Our firm partners with qualified custodians, such as Fidelity, JP Morgan, and TIAA, to provide you with independent statements and ongoing access to your accounts through the web, an app, or both.
