401 (k) Plans

A 401 (k) is a retirement savings account sponsored by an employer and has many benefits. One of the primary benefits is that your contributions are taken out of your paycheck before they are taxed. That means that your money can grow at a much higher rate over time. You won’t have to pay taxes until you start withdrawing your funds late in your late 50’s. Some, but not all, employers will match a percentage of your annual contributions, essentially providing you with free money. There are also Roth 401 (k)’s where you contribute money that’s already been taxed so you don’t have to pay when you withdraw.

Typically, your company decides the stock options that make up your 401 (k) plan and you then self-direct how you want to invest the money you contributed. All too often this is where employees get confused. There is uncertainty regarding which stock options they should choose and how to put together a portfolio that is aligned with their long-term financial goals.

HOW WE'RE DIFFERENT

At Mountain View Strategic Wealth, we take the guesswork out of that process. Typically, financial advisors cannot provide the ongoing 401 (k) management and oversight that is expected and required as a fiduciary due to limitations in technology.

Mountain View Strategic Wealth has access to software that allows us to view, manage and trade any asset, and provide you with the benefits of comprehensive portfolio management. This means we can manage 401 (k) plans using the fund lineup/choices offered within your 401 (k) plan. This allows us to provide full, holistic account management and wealth planning – and helps you to rest easy knowing that all your investable assets are being professionally managed by one trusted advisor. Studies show that professionally manages accounts outperform unmanaged accounts by 3% or more, net of fees*.

That’s why we created the 401K tune-up for DIY’ers.
